Oral Cancer Screening

Spotting Trouble Early is Key

According to the WHO (World Health Organization), oral cancer rates are particularly higher among men and it is the eighth most common cancer worldwide.  The largest risk factors for oral cancer are smoking and alcohol consumption.  When the two are combined, the risk is amplified, but anyone can be at risk at any age.  A brief examination by our dentists at your examination appointment can help recognize suspicious areas of the mouth and can spot cancers at early stages. We will sometimes use a special screening light known as a VelScope, that can help with the diagnosis of questionable lesions.
