Getting the dental coverage you require has just become more affordable. With the introduction of the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), uninsured and lower-income BC residents can receive dental care for a significantly lower price.
Are You Eligible?
Not all Canadians are eligible for the CDCP. Before applying, you must meet the following criteria
- Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status.
- Have uninsured status for dental care benefits.
- Not covered by any existing federal, provincial, or territorial programs.
- Family net income less than $90,000.
- Filed your previous tax return in Canada.
What is Covered and How Much is Covered?
The CDCP covers a range of essential dental treatments including but not limited to, diagnostic and preventative services, basic services, major services, anesthesia or sedation services, and orthodontic services.
The CDCP will reimburse a portion of the cost of your treatment, but it may not pay the full amount. The amount covered is dependent on your income, and is outlined in the table below.

How Do You Apply For the Canadian Dental Care Program?
The Canadian Dental Care Plan is opening in phases, and when you can apply is outlined in the table below.
