Orthodontics: Braces and Better for Today’s Best Smiles

by Riverside Heights Dental October 10th, 2014 in Dental Health, Orthodontics - Invisalign

In today’s dental practices, the opportunity to improve or correct the alignment of teeth and jaws is better than it’s ever been. It used to be that braces were the only option, and that they were generally painful, uncomfortable and awkward. The reputation of braces has historically been less than positive, especially if you consider what the TV has to say about them. But the alternative, jaws or teeth that do not line up, is not much better. Having your teeth straightened while your jaw is growing is the best option, but it’s never too late to visit the orthodontist if you’re not happy with your smile.

Better Than Braces

Smiling is the universal sign of agreement, approval and contentedness. Even in the business world, it’s important to be able to smile openly and sincerely. In fact, people who smile tend to be more confident, which can often lead to more success. People who hide their teeth, afraid of smiling because they never had braces and are insecure about their teeth, tend to feel less confident in their interactions with other.

Many adults are now getting braces in order to get over their insecurities once and for all. But even better than braces are the newest options in teeth straightening. Invisalign is a system that uses a clear plastic cover which is worn over your teeth. Invisalign can be used without people noticing, and can easily be removed for eating or special occasions.

Modern Orthodontics

Today, dentists and orthodontists know that it’s important to have a child’s jaw and teeth monitored starting around age 7, to see how their smile will turn out. Dealing with crooked teeth at a young age is the best option. But it doesn’t mean that it’s too late for adults to get that perfect smile. Modern braces and products like Invisalign make it possible for teeth to be straightened with the least amount of inconvenience.
